I am greatly puzzled about this image. I have Googled extensively, and not found an image or a description similar to this ship. All the images I've seen are of either a centerwheel paddleboat, or a propeller steamer that has 2 stacks and looks much larger than this one. This "Pilgrim" is loaded with military personnel and a few civilians. There are officers on the upper deck (of course!) along with most of the visible civilians, and the 2 lower decks are filled with enlisted men in uniform, except for that 1 guy at the railing where the gangplank goes.
